Plan hillside construction around the complete site

A hillside build brings the ground, structure, water, and access into the same conversation. This planning guide helps you organize information for Manuel Carrillo; it does not provide an engineering design or diagnose a slope.

Bring the site information already available

Surveys, geotechnical reports, foundation drawings, retaining-wall plans, and proposed grading details can explain what has been evaluated. Identify what is current, what is preliminary, and what still needs review. Existing structures and neighboring property should be considered with the proposed work.

Photographs can show visible conditions and access but cannot establish soil properties or structural adequacy. If you are reporting movement, damage, or drainage, describe the observations and when they occurred. Do not enter unsafe areas to document them.

Review access before choosing the sequence

Explain how equipment and materials can reach the work area. Street conditions, staging, delivery space, slopes, narrow paths, and existing improvements may influence the approach. Include any restrictions on adjoining access or parking.

Excavation, soil export, reinforcement, concrete placement, utility work, and finish installation may use the site differently. The construction scope should address these activities rather than assuming the finished project footprint is the entire working area.

Connect support and drainage

A retaining wall, foundation, pool, patio, and landscaped slope may be physically connected. Their proposed elevations and drainage routes should be reviewed together. Water movement should be described as a complete path, not simply a request to add a drain.

Los Angeles County provides permit guidance for construction and grading work. Confirm the authority for the specific address and the reviews applicable to the proposed scope. A website guide does not determine permit requirements.

Use project evidence for context

Our documented hillside pool and retaining-wall project includes actual reinforcement and finished outdoor photographs. They illustrate construction stages, not a transferable design or a guarantee about another site's conditions.

Send the property address, existing information, scope, and constraints. Manuel can discuss the construction-review step and how the related foundation, retaining-wall, drainage, and outdoor work should be described.
